Blog 8: A subject you enjoyed studying this semester

Hi everyone! Today I´m going to talk about a subject I enjoyed studying this semester.

A subject I enjoyed a lot in university was "Problematización e intervención urbano territorial", In this course, I saw various urban planning actors who explained different ways of seeing the city and, above all, the interactions of people in it.

Jane Jacobs is a very important activist in urban planning, she has a book entitled "Death and life of big cities" in which she defends the human scale and harshly criticizes modernist cities that are developed with large buildings and roads since they do not respond to the needs of the person, they are cold and unsafe cities.

She worries about the life and safety of the neighborhood, studies social behaviors and the ties that can be formed with the place.

His way of investigating life in cities is very interesting, since it is very microscopic. For example, she argues that a better city is one that allows diversity of uses in a place and social interactions, and she studies sidewalks and what happens in them by observing them.
She too managed to defend the neighborhood where she lived for a long time, since they were going to destroy it and they were going to build a road there.
