Blog 8: A subject you enjoyed studying this semester

Imagen
Hi everyone! Today I´m going to talk about  a subject I enjoyed studying this semester. A subject I enjoyed a lot in university was "Problematización e intervención urbano territorial",  In this course, I saw various urban planning actors who explained different ways of seeing the city and, above all, the interactions of people in it. Jane Jacobs is a very important activist in urban planning, she has a book entitled "Death and life of big cities" in which she defends the human scale and harshly criticizes modernist cities that are developed with large buildings and roads since they do not respond to the needs of the person, they are cold and unsafe cities. She worries about the life and safety of the neighborhood, studies social behaviors and the ties that can be formed with the place. His way of investigating life in cities is very interesting, since it is very microscopic. For example, she argues that a better city is one that allows diversity of uses in a place...

Blog 7: A Career-Related Website or an Expert in my Field

Imagen
Hi everyone! Today I´m going to talk about two websites that related with my career. First:  http://officekgdvs.com/projects/#office-130 The OFFICE is an architecture team that designs projects.  I really like the page as it helps me find inspiration when I want to represent a project   The design of the page is minimalist and has many publications, where you can find renders, photomontages, cuts, plants, axonometric and descriptions of a project. The projects are very interesting and beautiful, they create a good set of materialities, designs, colors, scales, etc. SUR TIERRA is an architecture team that I discovered recently and works with the earth, the page shows how adobe houses and different designs are built. and the final link: http://www.surtierraarquitectura.cl/category/casas/ For me, it is very interesting to work with adobe, I feel that it is a very good material and for example, adobe is less polluting than than concrete . Also, its color or texture is very sp...

Blog 6: How Can Your Major/Career Make the World a Better Place

Imagen
Hello everybody! Today I'm going to talk about how architecture makes the world a better place. Architecture is very important as it is responsible for creating livable spaces for people where they can live and interact with others. It helps each person feel safe and protected, for example inside their home, worrying about factors such as lighting, ventilation, etc. and therefore improving their quality of life. Also on a larger scale, architecture can help achieve a more environmentally friendly world by designing more sustainable cities or implementing building systems with less environmental impact. Architecture influences the image of the place where we live, greener landscapes that are related to the human dimension will always contribute to a healthier and more empathetic environment.

Blog 4: A Meal or Food You Really Like

Imagen
Hi! Today I`m going to tal talk about my favorite food. It's hard to choose one, but I think the winner is pizza! Ohh! Homemade pizza is wonderful! It's exciting from the preparation until when it's already on the table. Pizza consists of a base of dough that is covered with tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese and different ingredients. Choosing the ingredients its very fun for me because there may be many mixtures. I prefer vegetarian pizza, the taste that results from the mixture of all the ingredients is extremely delicious In my home we eat pizza once a week, and definitely has changed our life for the best. I love preparing pizza with more people, while listening to music and having fun. Finally, for me this homemade meal is healthy because the dough is based on flour and water, the sauce is based on our home grown tomatoes, cheese is good due to its nutritional content and the rest of the vegetables are all healthy food.

Blog 3 : My favorite piece of technology

Imagen
Hi! welcome to my third blog :) My favorite piece of technology is my cellphone because I use it for many things. I can take pictures of everything, specially of my pets. I love having a gallery of many moments to look at whenever I want to. I also love talking with my friends in spite of the distance, because during the pandemic I have not been able see them in a long time. Speaking with them makes me happy. Making video calls, sharing pictures or texting helps me to not feel sad in this sanitary crisis. I also use my cellphone to organize my life, listen to music all day, spend time on social media, watch tv and series and watch videos. I usually watch videos for doing excersice or yoga. I recommend using a cellphone because its good company for the day and a tool that is very entertaining. It can connect people in many ways. It is a very interesting world that works very well if you have good control over it and not forget your real life.

Blog 2 : Why did I choose this career?

Imagen
Hi!  When I was child I wanted to be stylist because I loved the fashion and make up, but when I grow up I realized that there were other areas that interested me much more. I applied for two careers, Civil Industrial Engineering and Architecture. I only considered industrial civil engineering because I had good grades in physics and mathematics, but I started to investigate more and architecture caught my attention.Having a friend who was studying architecture influenced my final decision, because she shared with me the things she learned and in that moment the art of designing caught my attention. Finally I decided to study architecture because I felt had much to learn in the field culture and artistic and not just mathematical. My career experience is very interesting, I was very surprised when I started studying because it was totally different from my school experience. I began to study things so close to reality such as investigating a space and seeing how people move a...
